COMMENDING the Great Lot Sportsman's Club upon the
occasion of celebrating its 25th Anniversary on May
12, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Great Lot Sportsman's Club upon the occasion of its 25th
Anniversary to be celebrated at a party on Saturday, May 12, 2018, in
Boonville, New York; and
WHEREAS, Members are invited to come together on this momentous
milestone to commemorate 25 fun-filled years of camp activity, and
participate in numerous activities such as a scavenger hunt, ATV/UTV
rides on camp trails, trap shooting, shotgun pie plate shoot, bulls eye
shoot, archery, and cornhole; people can also watch fireworks at night
and sit by a warm campfire all day long; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 25 years, the Great Lot Sportsman's Club of
Boonville, New York, has provided dedicated service to sportsman
education, and supported the continuation of the American camping
heritage; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Great Lot Sportsman's Club has
continually supported numerous organizations through their volunteer
programs to educate the general public on maintaining a healthy
lifestyle through various outdoor activities including firearm safety,
proper utilization of recreational equipment, propagation of fish and
game, environmental laws and State regulations; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Great Lot Sportsman's Club has donated
significant funds to the local Humane Society; and
WHEREAS, The Great Lot Sportsman's Club has been a valuable asset to
the local community; it has provided free hiking, fishing, canoeing,
backpacking, bird watching and star gazing to several Boy Scout Troops,
Cub Scout Packs, and church organizations; and
WHEREAS, The Great Lot Sportsman's Club has also provided the
general public the chance to experience several outdoors activities at
no cost; each year, the Club conducts five guided snowshoeing trips
where they provide equipment, food and drink, and hospitality; and
offers four guided mountain bike rides where people all ages can
participate; and
WHEREAS, Every October, the Great Lot Sportsman's Club hosts a
military appreciation weekend; veterans travel from all over the
Northeast to attend a few days of camaraderie and fellowship; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Great Lot
Sportsman's Club; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Great Lot Sportsman's Club upon the occasion of celebrating
its 25th Anniversary on May 12, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Great Lot Sportsman's Club.
