HONORING Devin Brust upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Young Professionals
Award by the Sullivan County Democrat

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Devin Brust upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Young
Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and

WHEREAS, Devin Brust was selected for this esteemed honor in
recognition of his hard work, ambition, and creativity, as well as for
his profound impact in and around the community of Sullivan County; and

WHEREAS, At the young age of five, Devin Brust and his family moved
to Bethel, New York; ever since, he has been an active and important
part of his community; and

WHEREAS, Upon graduating from high school, Devin Brust studied
hospitality and criminal justice at a university in Las Vegas; after a
few semesters, he returned to his hometown and worked as a correction
officer; and

WHEREAS, Devin Brust successfully completed training at the police
academy and became a police officer for the Village of Liberty, New
York; in this capacity, he is involved with the D.A.R.E., a school-based
program which is meant to provide young students with invaluable tools
to be successful citizens; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Devin Brust teaches the D.A.R.E. curriculum to
fifth graders from Liberty Central School District, where he also serves
as the school resource officer; Devin is always willing to listen to the
students and gives them the tools to make positive life choices; and

WHEREAS, Devin Brust shows the students how to manage their social
media accounts safely and explains the impact harmful habits can have on
their lives, families and friends; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work as a public servant, Devin Brust
works alongside his family managing the Bethel Market Cafe, which they
purchased nearly two years ago; and

WHEREAS, When he has some rare free time, Devin Brust enjoys
spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors on his ATV, and
rooting for his favorite New York teams, the Giants and the Knicks; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, and their two
children, all of whom have shown him love and support and rejoice in his
many achievements; and


WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Devin Brust upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a
Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Devin Brust.
