HONORING Joe Fox upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Young Professionals
Award by the Sullivan County Democrat
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joe Fox upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Young
Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and
WHEREAS, Joe Fox was selected for this esteemed honor in recognition
of his hard work, ambition, and creativity, as well as for his profound
impact in and around the community of Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, In 1928, Walt and Winnie Dette established Dette Flies;
eventually, their daughter, Mary, took over the business; Joe Fox,
Mary's grandson began to work at the shop after he graduated from SUNY
Sullivan; and
WHEREAS, Upon Mary's retirement, Joe Fox assumed ownership of the
thriving business in 2014; since then, Joe has continuously provided
excellent customer service and built strong relationships with his
clientele; and
WHEREAS, Joe Fox takes great pride in offering his customers only
the best products, not only in his two stores, but also online; he also
enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of the local fishing conditions on the
business's website; and
WHEREAS, After 90 years of business, Joe Fox has expanded Dette
Flies by opening a second location at 13 Main Street in Livingston
Manor, New York; and
WHEREAS, When he is not working, Joe Fox serves on the Catskill Fly
Fishing Center and Museum Executive Committee, and likes to travel
through the United States looking for the best fly fishing spots; he
truly enjoys being outdoors and making friends with his fellow anglers;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joe Fox upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a
Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joe Fox.
