HONORING Dr. Maegan Sauer upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of a Young Professionals
Award by the Sullivan County Democrat

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Maegan Sauer upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a
Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Maegan Sauer was selected for this esteemed honor in
recognition of her hard work, ambition, and creativity, as well as for
her profound impact in and around the community of Sullivan County; and

WHEREAS, Maegan Sauer was born to Steve and Lisa Sauer, and grew up
in Cochecton, New York; she was a student at Delaware Valley School in
Callicoon, New York, until the eighth grade; she graduated from Sullivan
West High School in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Upon earning her bachelor's degree in Biology from Siena
College, Maegan Sauer furthered her education by obtaining her Doctorate
of Optometry from the SUNY College of Optometry; and

WHEREAS, During this time, Dr. Maegan Sauer donated her time and
energy to Vision Walk Foundation's annual Central Park event; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Maegan Sauer
served as a Primary Eye Care Resident at Woodhall Hospital in Brooklyn,
and TLC Laser Center where she performed lascic refractic surgery; after
three years, she returned to her hometown to gain experience and to make
a difference in a rural healthcare environment; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. Maegan Sauer serves as an optometrist in
both Monticello, New York, and Honesdale, Pennsylvania; in this role,
she provides primary eye care from glasses and contacts to treatment and
management of dry eye, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diseases, eye
emergencies and foreign bodies in eyes; and

WHEREAS, This summer, Dr. Maegan Sauer plans on getting married and
opening her own practice in Jeffersonville, New York; when she is not
working or planning her wedding, she enjoys spending time with her
family and fiancee, and likes to stay fit by biking and hiking in the
great outdoors; during the winter, she loves to crochet homemade gifts
for her loved ones; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Maegan Sauer upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of a Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Maegan Sauer.
