CONGRATULATING Elmer Carlson upon the occasion of
celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Nation and Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Elmer Carlson upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and

WHEREAS, Elmer Carlson was born on May 27, 1918, to parents, Victor
Anton Carlson and Ada Olivia Sundberg; he attended school in Lander,
Pennsylvania and Jamestown, New York; and

WHEREAS, Elmer Carlson was employed by Watson Industries for 17
years, and owned and operated Carlson's Cycle Sales for 20 years, until
his retirement in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Elmer Carlson married his wife, Freda Anderson Carlson, and
together they are the loving parents of David Carlson and Susan
Vassallo; they have been further blessed with two grandsons, two
granddaughters, and several great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Elmer Carlson's favorite pastimes include dancing,
motorcycles, hunting, and fishing; Elmer is a World War II veteran of
the United States Navy, serving as part of "The Greatest Generation"; he
was honorably discharged and received various medals for his heroic
service; it is important that his commitment and sacrifice never goes
unnoticed; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a
remarkable age and who have witnessed and celebrated the outstanding
innovations, cultural developments, and awesome achievements of this
country during the last century; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Elmer Carlson upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Elmer Carlson.
