HONORING Paul Mays upon the occasion of his
retirement after 11 years of dedicated service as a
Board Member of the Southern Adirondack Library
System
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Paul Mays upon the occasion of his retirement after 11 years of
dedicated service as a Board Member of the Southern Adirondack Library
System, to be celebrated at its 60th Annual Trustee Meeting on Monday,
May 21, 2018, in Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious tenure with the Southern
Adirondack Library System, Paul Mays has served in leadership roles on
numerous standing committees including Audit and Finance, Washington
County Aid Coordinator, Library Services, and Personnel; and
WHEREAS, Paul Mays also served as Chair for the Building Committee
from 2008 to 2018, as Board Secretary from 2012 to 2016, and on the
Joint Automation Council from 2014 to 2015; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the Southern
Adirondack Library System, Paul Mays attended board meetings as
requested and unstintingly devoted his time, applying his experience,
wisdom, and intelligence to improve public library services; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Paul Mays tirelessly advocated for sustainable
library funding and support at every level; and
WHEREAS, For more than a decade, Paul Mays rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Southern Adirondack Library
System, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues;
and
WHEREAS, The success of the Southern Adirondack Library System is in
direct correlation to the efforts of Paul Mays, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Paul Mays over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to
others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Paul Mays upon the occasion of his retirement after 11 years of
dedicated service as a Board Member of the Southern Adirondack Library
System; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Paul Mays.
