HONORING Nicole Avitah-Curtis upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Academic
Excellence Award by the Orchard Park Foundation on
June 6, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Nicole Avitah-Curtis upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Academic Excellence Award by the Orchard Park Foundation to be
celebrated at its Annual Volunteer Awards Dinner on Wednesday, June 6,
2018, at Mangia's Restaurant in Orchard Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, The awards dinner was established in 2008 to recognize
members of the community who foster and support the mission of the
Orchard Park Foundation for Academic Excellence (OPFAE), which is to
enhance the educational experience of students in the Orchard Park
School District by supporting extraordinary experiences and
opportunities in academics, athletics and the arts; and
WHEREAS, A student at Ellicott Elementary School, Nicole
Avitah-Curtis is truly deserving of this prestigious award; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and
serving can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Service to community and country is the foundation of our
society, and the contributions and future efforts of those in service to
them are a vital part of, and valuable asset to, the fabric of our
communities; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Nicole Avitah-Curtis represents the best development of the potential
which is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Nicole Avitah-Curtis upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Academic Excellence Award by the Orchard Park
Foundation on June 6, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nicole Avitah-Curtis.
