HONORING John Dollard upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the William B. Joslin
Outstanding Performance Award by New York State
Industries for the Disabled, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay just tribute to those citizens who embody the true American spirit,
demonstrating personal courage and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
John Dollard upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award by New York State
Industries for the Disabled, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Joslin Awards Program of the New York State
Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) respectfully acknowledges
individuals in New York communities who strengthen the Preferred Source
Program through jobs well done; and
WHEREAS, This past year, nearly 7,000 total workers in 48 counties
realized the independence which comes from earning a paycheck; and
WHEREAS, John Dollard attended schools for the hearing impaired
until he was 21 years old; he eventually returned to his hometown to
live with his family; and
WHEREAS, Upon his return, John Dollard, affectionately known as the
Boss Man, liked to go on jobs with his father who was an electrician;
John also volunteered for the local fire department; and
WHEREAS, Through vocational training at the Sullivan Industries work
center, John Dollard learned various jobs to help prepare him for
working in the community; he mastered skills such as skid packing, L-bar
operation and various positions on a rotary sealing machine; and
WHEREAS, Currently, John Dollard is a dedicated employee of
SullivanArc's Employment Services, working on a mobile crew with five
other people; in this capacity, he performs various cleaning tasks at a
local car dealership, the New York State Department of Health and the
New York State Division of Homeland Security; John truly loves earning
his own paycheck; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and
responsibilities, John Dollard's ongoing efforts and notable
achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of
life in his community; and
WHEREAS, John Dollard lives in his own cottage on his mother's
property, proudly maintaining his home by himself; he enjoys riding his
four-wheeler, and likes to help out by mowing the lawn in the summer and
snow blowing the driveway in the winter; and
WHEREAS, John Dollard also loves to go fishing and go on road trips
with his mother to visit his beloved sister; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such enduring courage and accomplishment are brought to
our attention, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those
individuals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Dollard upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award by New York State
Industries for the Disabled, Inc., and to wish him continued success in
all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to John Dollard.
