HONORING Samantha Castricone upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
26, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Samantha
Castricone upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was
celebrated at its Fifth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 26,
2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and

WHEREAS, Samantha Castricone has distinguished herself as a young
woman of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing
standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and
responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A senior at George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo Park, New
York, Samantha Castricone has not decided which college she plans to
attend, but she plans to pursue either a health-related or educational
career; she participates in her high school band, chorus, jazz band and
drama club; has completed six NYSSMA vocal solos; was a member of a
competitive honor choir; and was accepted into the Rockland All-County
Chorus; and

WHEREAS, Samantha Castricone has been in five high school musicals
and four private musical productions; is a member of George F. Baker
High School's Chapter of the National Honor Society; and has played both
varsity softball and varsity volleyball; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Samantha Castricone is an active member of her
church's youth ministry, as well as serving her church as cantor for a
year and participating in many community service projects; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Samantha
Castricone has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Samantha Castricone may stand with pride in her
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of
her accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as
she continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Samantha Castricone represents the potential inherent in
our most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased

to honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise
of her future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Samantha Castricone upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster
BOCES, and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Samantha Castricone.
