HONORING Shannon Klotz upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
26, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Shannon
Klotz upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated
at its Fifth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at
Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and

WHEREAS, Shannon Klotz has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Port Jervis High School, Shannon Klotz will be
attending Alfred University to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree;
she has appeared on the Port Jervis High School stage as one of Tiger
Lily's Indians in Peter Pan, Milky White the Cow in Into the Woods,
Agatha and a Hotbox Dancer in Guys and Dolls, and now Patti Simcox in
Grease; and

WHEREAS, Shannon Klotz is Vice President of the Junior Catholic
Daughters, Varsity Cheerleading Captain, the Student Body
Representative, the National Honor Society Social Chairperson, a member
of the Chorus, and is active in the Art Department; and

WHEREAS, Shannon Klotz has been an integral member of both the Music
Department and the Art Department at her high school; she has been the
assistant scenic painter for the past three years and is the Student
Representative for the School Board; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Shannon Klotz
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Shannon Klotz may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Shannon Klotz represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor

this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Shannon Klotz upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Shannon Klotz.
