HONORING Christian Deas upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
26, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Christian
Deas upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated
at its Fifth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at
Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and

WHEREAS, Christian Deas has distinguished himself as a young man of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A senior at S.S. Seward Institute, Florida, New York,
Christian Deas will be attending SUNY Cortland in the fall in Cortland,
New York; he plans on majoring in musical theater; and

WHEREAS, Christian Deas is a senior Chess Club member and President
of the Drama Club, along with being part of the set building team; he
stage directs for the middle school productions and was selected
All-Section for Varsity Class C/D soccer this year; and

WHEREAS, Christian Deas has performed in six productions for his
school and four outside of school; he is currently rehearsing for two
upcoming shows; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Christian
Deas has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Christian Deas may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and

WHEREAS, Christian Deas represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Christian Deas upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Christian Deas.
