HONORING Chloe Borthwick upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
26, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Chloe
Borthwick upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was
celebrated at its Fifth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 26,
2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and

WHEREAS, Chloe Borthwick has distinguished herself as a young woman
of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Warwick Valley High School, Chloe Borthwick is
planning on majoring in jazz or songwriting/studio composition in the
fall; she has not yet decided on the university that she will attend;
and

WHEREAS, Currently, Chloe Borthwick is the principal oboist for the
Honors Wind Ensemble, a member of the Honors Choir, the Meistersingers,
and a member and arranger for Warwick Valley High School's all girls a
cappella group, the Cat's Meow; and

WHEREAS, As an active member of her high school's Music Department,
Chloe Borthwick has participated in All-County, Area All-State and
All-State Jazz Choir; in addition to All-State Jazz Choir, she was also
accepted to the All-State Concert Band; and

WHEREAS, Outside of school, Chloe Borthwick is an active performer
and songwriter; among her achievements, she is a Young Arts Composition
Merit winner, a finalist in the 2016 International Songwriting
Competition, and one of the eight vocalists in the 2017 Grammy Jazz
Choir; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Chloe
Borthwick has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Chloe Borthwick may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her

accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Chloe Borthwick represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chloe Borthwick upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chloe Borthwick.
