COMMENDING the Caribbean American Cultural Group,
Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Miss
New York Continental Cultural Pageant on June 23,
2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those
organizations which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of
cultural diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of
New York State; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the
Caribbean American Cultural Group, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual Miss New York Continental Cultural Pageant on Saturday, June 23,
2018, in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1984, the Caribbean American Cultural Group
diligently works to develop a bond among Americans and Nationals of the
Caribbean countries, promote social recreation and educational programs,
and develop outreach programs for individuals in need; and

WHEREAS, In addition, the Caribbean American Cultural Group is a
community-based organization which works with youth on their cultural,
educational and physical development; since May of 2010, this vital
organization has held the Miss New York Continental Cultural Pageant;
and

WHEREAS, This particular event is for young women between the ages
of 16 and 24 who live in Brooklyn and the surrounding boroughs; the
Pageant strives to help these young women become positive role models in
their communities through various types of empowerment training,
personality development, confidence, leadership building, grace and
poise coaching, effective communication skills and modeling; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Caribbean American Cultural Group is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Caribbean American Cultural Group, Inc. upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual Miss New York Continental Cultural Pageant on June
23, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Caribbean American Cultural Group, Inc.
