COMMENDING Dr. Marceline J. Watler upon the
occasion of being named a 2018 Hall of Fame Honoree
by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. on May 27,
2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dr. Marceline J. Watler upon the occasion of being named a 2018
Hall of Fame Honoree by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc., to be
celebrated at its 7th Annual Power of Partnerships, Scholarship and Hall
of Fame Gala on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the BRIC Arts Media, Brooklyn,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2001, Making the Impossible Possible, Inc.
(MIPO) is a non-profit membership organization, promoting the quality of
life of Haitian youth in the United States and abroad through education,
music, character building, medical care, apprenticeship training, family
support and scholarships; and

WHEREAS, For several years, Dr. Marceline J. Watler served as
Director of Community Education for the Administration for Children's
Service; today, she is a Training Specialist for the James Satterwhite
Training Academy, and an Adjunct Professor who lectures extensively; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Marceline J. Watler has been a staunch advocate for
children and families and has dedicated many years to community service;
she serves on both the United Nations-USA Brooklyn Chapter and Medgar
Evers College Board of Directors, and was a vital member of the Board of
Directors of DwaFanm and Social Tap/The Haiti Initiative; she has also
supported Victory Ministries for Youth Gangs, and held the position of
President for the Jamaica Progressive League; and

WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her
community, Dr. Marceline J. Watler has been the recipient of numerous
awards and accolades including the Harriet Tubman Woman of Distinction
Award, the Victory Ministries Service Award, the Mahoe Hill Foundation
Award, and the Medgar Evers College Community Award; in 2017, she was
named a Brooklyn Power Woman in Business by Star Network; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. Marceline J. Watler, that future generations may know and appreciate
her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to express its highest admiration for Dr. Marceline J. Watler and to
wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Marceline J. Watler upon the occasion of being named a 2018
Hall of Fame Honoree by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. on May 27,
2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Marceline J. Watler.
