COMMENDING Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey upon the
occasion of being named a 2018 Hall of Fame Honoree
by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. on May 27,
2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey upon the occasion of being named a
2018 Hall of Fame Honoree by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc., to be
celebrated at its 7th Annual Power of Partnerships, Scholarship and Hall
of Fame Gala on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the BRIC Arts Media, Brooklyn,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2001, Making the Impossible Possible, Inc.
(MIPO) is a non-profit membership organization, promoting the quality of
life of Haitian youth in the United States and abroad through education,
music, character building, medical care, apprenticeship training, family
support and scholarships; and

WHEREAS, Born in Guyana, South America, Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey
moved to the United States in 1968; she earned her bachelor's degree in
psychology magna cum laude from the City University of New York, Hunter;
she furthered her education by obtaining her master's degree in higher
education from the New York University School of Education in 1999, and
her Doctor of Education from St. John Fisher College in December of
2016; and

WHEREAS, Since 2003, Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey has held the title
of Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the Weill Cornell Medical
College; in this capacity, she collaborates with deans of the medical
school on the recruitment of a diverse student body, and advises
premedical students throughout the United States as they prepare to
apply for medical school admission; and

WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her
profession and students, Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey was the recipient
of numerous awards and accolades including the 2009 Honorary President
ex-officio of the Medical Students Association Award by the University
of Guyana Medical Students Association, the 2012 Excellence in Community
Empowerment award from MAChO, the 2013 Pioneers in Diversity,
Administrative Staff Award by Weill Cornell Medical College, and in
2017, she was inducted into the Hunter College Alumni Association Hall
of Fame; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent

of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey, that future generations may know and
appreciate her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the
respect and esteem in which she is held by her peers; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to express its highest admiration for Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey and to
wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey upon the occasion of being named a
2018 Hall of Fame Honoree by Making the Impossible Possible, Inc. on May
27, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey.
