CONGRATULATING Pat Costello upon the occasion of
his retirement after 43 years of dedicated service
to the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers Local 43

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Pat Costello upon the occasion of his retirement after 43
years of dedicated service to the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers Local 43; and

WHEREAS, Pat Costello has steadfastly served the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 43 in Syracuse and the
Utica area for more than four decades; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious tenure with IBEW, Pat Costello
has held numerous elected union positions, including Executive Board
member, Vice President, Assistant Business Manager, Business Manager and
Trustee, as well as President, the esteemed position from which he
retired in March of 2018, after eight years of distinguished service;
and

WHEREAS, With an unwavering commitment to the IBEW and all working
men and women, Pat Costello has given tirelessly of his time and
energies volunteering, walking a picket line and taking time out of his
personal life to help a union member; and

WHEREAS, Pat Costello truly embodies all that the IBEW Constitution
stands for; his support and dedication has strengthened the labor
movement in Central New York, and his efforts to improve the lives of
the entire membership and their families will never be forgotten; and

WHEREAS, The success of IBEW is in direct correlation to the efforts
of Pat Costello, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, In his capacity as President, Pat Costello served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, earning the admiration, esteem and
affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Pat Costello over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication
to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Pat Costello upon the occasion of his retirement after 43
years of dedicated service to the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers Local 43; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pat Costello.
