COMMENDING Frank Furno upon the occasion of his
retirement after more than 14 years of dedicated
service to the Office of the Oneida County Public
Defender-Civil Division

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful
lives and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of
the citizens of their community and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Oneida County
community has been ably served and uniquely enriched through the
selfless dedication and benevolent concern of Public Defender Frank
Furno; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Frank Furno upon the occasion of his retirement after 14 years
of dedicated service to the Office of the Oneida County Public
Defender-Civil Division; and

WHEREAS, Frank Furno began his long and distinguished career with
Oneida County as a Public Defender on January 20, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Frank Furno, the Public
Defender-Civil Office saw its processed applications increase from
approximately 1,500 per year to more than 3,000 per year; and

WHEREAS, Frank Furno was also instrumental in the launch of the
digitalization of applications, case management and record keeping,
which enabled the Public Defender Civil Office to more efficiently and
effectively serve the citizens of Oneida County; and

WHEREAS, For the past 14 years, Frank Furno has served the people of
Oneida County admirably and his good work will long be remembered; and

WHEREAS, Throughout a life and career of purposeful endeavor, Frank
Furno has remained true to his commitment, serving family, faith and
community, as well as the law; his contributions and accomplishments
have brought great benefit and positive influence to bear upon the
course of jurisprudence and the quality of life for others; and

WHEREAS, Public Defender Frank Furno, in every capacity in which he
served, has left his permanent mark on the criminal justice community
and will forever be remembered as a determined, innovative and genuinely
concerned expert in his field; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Frank Furno upon the occasion of his retirement after more than
14 years of dedicated service to the Office of the Oneida County Public
Defender-Civil Division; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Frank Furno.
