HONORING Rayn Boncie upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2018 Excellence in
Business Development Award by the Women's Business
Council of the Capital Region Chamber
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Rayn Boncie
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2018 Excellence
in Business Development Award by the Women's Business Council of the
Capital Region Chamber to be celebrated at its 27th Annual Women of
Excellence Luncheon on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Albany Marriott
Hotel, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Women's Business Council (WBC) diligently works to
promote the full participation and leadership of women at all levels in
the workplace, the community and government; it also develops programs
which provide opportunities for women to learn and network as well as
share their expertise with each other and to address the unique issues
of women in business; and
WHEREAS, The Women of Excellence Award acknowledges women in six
categories: Distinguished Career, Emerging Professional, Excellence in
Business, Excellence in Business Development, Excellence in Management,
and Excellence in the Professions; and
WHEREAS, Rayn Boncie has exhibited the true spirit of this
auspicious award through her impressive professional success and her
tireless dedication to both her community and her family; this
remarkable woman is helping to shape the future of the residents of the
Capital Region and throughout the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Inspired by a difficult time in her life, Rayn Boncie vowed
to assist foster children; in 2008, she did just that when she founded
Things of My Very Own, Inc., a private non-profit organization which
provides for families in need; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Rayn Boncie, by its second
year, Things of My Very Own had helped more than 5,800 children in 11
counties by providing emergency supplies such as clothing, bedding,
toiletries, and food; as well as educational and life skills programs;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to her position of CEO of her organization,
Rayn Boncie is a single mother for four wonderful children, ages 19, 13,
11 and seven; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rayn Boncie upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2018 Excellence in Business Development Award by the Women's
Business Council of the Capital Region Chamber; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Rayn Boncie.
