Senate Resolution No. 5408

CONGRATULATING the 2018 Valedictorian and
Salutatorian of Mount St. Mary Academy, in
recognition of their exceptional accomplishments
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the
youth of today, the leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
achievements exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the 2018 Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Mount St. Mary
Academy, in recognition of their exceptional accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Mount St. Mary Academy's 2018 Valedictorian is Anna
Botticello, and the 2018 Salutatorian is Catherine Lippert, both of whom
are being commended for their outstanding academic performances and
exemplary achievements; and
WHEREAS, A resident of the Town of Tonawanda, Anna Botticello earned
a 99.77 average throughout her four years at Mount St. Mary Academy;
after graduating, she plans to study creative writing at Hamilton
College; and
WHEREAS, Anna Botticello has been a vital part of her school,
serving as an officer of several school clubs including Discover Japan
Club, Writing Club and Book Club; in 2017, she was the recipient of the
prestigious Harvard Prize Book Award; and
WHEREAS, Salutatorian Catherine Lippert lives in Grand Island, New
York, and maintained a 98.97 average throughout her four years at Mount
St. Mary Academy; in the fall, she will attend Duquesne University to
pursue a degree as a physician's assistant; and
WHEREAS, Catherine Lippert holds the title of Chief Financial
Officer for an award-winning student business called Essence; she has
also been a leader of both the Student Council and Service Club, and
served as Captain of the Girls Varsity Lacrosse and Volleyball teams
during her senior year; and
WHEREAS, Anna Botticello and Catherine Lippert may now stand with
pride as they assess their achievements, experience the satisfaction of
their labors and the joy of their accomplishments, eager to face the new
experiences of the challenging world; and
WHEREAS, These two bright and extraordinary students represent the
best of developed potential inherent in our most precious resource, our
youth; their achievements have brought enduring honor to their families
and communities and should be recognized and saluted; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
students of remarkable character, who have shown initiative and
commitment toward constantly pursing higher goals for themselves, and
acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by their peers; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the 2018 Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Mount St. Mary
Academy, in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments, and to
extend to them the best wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of
purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Anna Botticello and Catherine Lippert.
