HONORING Leslie McKinnon upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Housing and
Family Services of Greater New York, Inc. on June
21, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Leslie McKinnon upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc., to
be celebrated at its Annual Carole Jayson Memorial Dinner on Thursday,
June 21, 2018, at Rex Manor, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Guyana, South America, Leslie McKinnon migrated to
the United States and earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from
Medgar Evers College; and
WHEREAS, Leslie McKinnon began his illustrious career with the City
of New York Department of Social Services in 1983; he worked in the
welfare center as an eligibility specialist to the Principal
Administration Assistant for 13 years; and
WHEREAS, He then spent four years as an RAU consultant in the Mental
Assistance Unit, before being assigned to the Brooklyn Housing Court as
Court Liaison; and
WHEREAS, Leslie McKinnon is the proud recipient of numerous awards
and accolades, including the 2003 Judiciary Award of Merit from Kings
County Housing Court Bar Association and the 2007 Sloan Public Service
Award; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, and their three
daughters, who have all shown him love and support and rejoice in his
many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Leslie McKinnon is an inspiration to many people, and his
dedication and commitment to his community has proven him to be the
epitome of true leadership; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to express its highest admiration for Leslie McKinnon and to wish him
continued success in all of his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leslie McKinnon upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc. on
June 21, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Leslie McKinnon.
