HONORING Matthew Quimby upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Matthew
Quimby upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Matthew Quimby has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and

WHEREAS, A student at Middletown High School, Matthew Quimby has a
100.98 GPA and is the Valedictorian of his class; he belongs to the
National Honor Society, the academic team, and math team; he is also a
member of the Boy Scouts of America (Eagle Scout); and

WHEREAS, Matthew Quimby was the team captain for the indoor and
outdoor track and field team, section champion in the triple jump and
the long jump, and a national qualifier fro the triple jump; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Matthew Quimby gives tirelessly
of his time and energies volunteering at: Habitat for Humanity,
Beautiful People, and the Middletown Track Youth Program; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Matthew Quimby plans to
attend Binghamton University and major in biomedical engineering; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Matthew
Quimby has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Quimby may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Quimby represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Matthew Quimby upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Matthew Quimby.
