COMMENDING McConchie's Heritage Acres upon the
occasion of hosting the nationally sanctioned state
barbecue competition "Smoke in the Woods"

WHEREAS, Culinary competition enhances the moral and creative
development of the people of this State, instilling in them the value of
teamwork, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
artistic and creative expression; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
dedication and commitment of those individuals who distinguish
themselves through excellence in culinary competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend McConchie's Heritage Acres upon the occasion of hosting the
nationally sanctioned state barbecue competition "Smoke in the Woods"
from June 22-24, 2018, in Galway, New York; and

WHEREAS, Located in Galway, New York, McConchie's Heritage Acres
truly has something for everyone, including a swimming pool, fishing
pond, playgrounds, fire rings, picnic tables, and planned activities
such as this auspicious barbecue; and

WHEREAS, The competition is organized by Campground BBQ Contests, a
series of nationally sanctioned state BBQ championships scattered
throughout the Northeast United States; and

WHEREAS, Campground BBQ includes both amateur and pro contests;
because they are hosted at local campgrounds, these contests allow BBQ
teams to compete with every advantage necessary, including electric,
water, trash, bathrooms, hot showers and even sewage disposal; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, they allow teams to wind down in private
comfort to enjoy the cooking process and time spent with friends and
family; the winners of each contest qualify for national championships;
and

WHEREAS, The barbecue industry is seeing increased prevalence and
popularity in the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional campground and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend McConchie's Heritage Acres upon the occasion of hosting the
nationally sanctioned state barbecue competition "Smoke in the Woods";
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to McConchie's Heritage Acres, Galway, New York.
