HONORING Kayla Maas upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kayla Maas
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Kayla Maas has distinguished
herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A student at Eldred Central School District, Kayla Maas has
a 93.36 GPA and is ranked 4th in her class; she is a member of the
National Honor Society, Interact Club, Performing Arts Club, Band and
Key Elements; and

WHEREAS, Kayla Maas is also a vital member of the basketball team,
as well as captain of the cross country and indoor and outdoor track
teams where she achieved All-Star status; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Kayla Maas gives tirelessly of
her time and energies volunteering for Saint Ann's Youth Group; and

WHEREAS, Kayla Maas plans to attend Siena College where she will
major in biology or pre-dental with a minor in exercise science; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Kayla Maas
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Kayla Maas may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Kayla Maas represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kayla Maas upon the occasion of her designation for special

recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kayla Maas.
