HONORING Kaylene Sauschuck upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association
as a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kaylene
Sauschuck upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018
Senior Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a
Breakfast on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Kaylene Sauschuck has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent,
and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and

WHEREAS, A student at Port Jervis High School, Kaylene Sauschuck has
a 94.45 GPA and is ranked 12th in her class; she serves as a freshman
peer mentor, Parliamentarian of the National Honor Society, and
Secretary of the Varsity Club; and

WHEREAS, An exceptional athlete, Kaylene Sauschuck was the Captain
of the Varsity Girls Volleyball and Basketball Teams and was a member of
the Outdoor Track and Field Team; she was named the Most Improved Player
for both volleyball and basketball and was selected as a Section
All-Star; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Kaylene Sauschuck plans
to major in nursing and hopes to play volleyball and basketball at
Elmira College; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Kaylene Sauschuck gives
tirelessly of her time and energies volunteering for the local food
pantry, Salvation Army, Read Across America, the Varsity Club concession
stand, and Little Dribblers; she also participated in a service trip to
North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Kaylene
Sauschuck has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Kaylene Sauschuck may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Kaylene Sauschuck represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kaylene Sauschuck upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kaylene Sauschuck.
