HONORING Morgan Mitchell upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Morgan
Mitchell upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Morgan Mitchell has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent,
and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and
WHEREAS, A student at Monticello High School, Morgan Mitchell has a
97.43 GPA and has been named Valedictorian of her class; she is a member
of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and student
council; she has served as Treasurer of the Interact Club and Treasurer
of her class; and
WHEREAS, An exceptional athlete, Morgan Mitchell was the Captain of
the Varsity Girls Soccer Team, and a member of the Varsity Girls
Softball and Alpine Skiing Teams; she was named an Alpine All-Star, and
was selected to both the Sectional and State Alpine Ski Team; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Morgan Mitchell plans to
major in biomedical sciences at the University of Buffalo in the hopes
of becoming a sports medicine physician; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Morgan Mitchell gives
tirelessly of her time and energies volunteering for Rock Hill Business
Association, and school food and toy drives; she is also a member of the
Rock Hill Fire Department and Sullivan Renaissance; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Morgan
Mitchell has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Morgan Mitchell may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Morgan Mitchell represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Morgan Mitchell upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Morgan Mitchell.
