HONORING Alex Schwalb upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Alex Schwalb
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Alex Schwalb has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and
WHEREAS, A student from the Sullivan West Central School District,
Alex Schwalb has a 94.4 GPA and is ranked 4th in his class; he is a
member of the Board of Education Scholar Athlete Committee and student
council, and has served as Treasurer of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, An exceptional athlete, Alex Schwalb served as Captain for
his soccer and baseball teams, and participated on the indoor track and
field team; he was the recipient of the Leadership and Sportsmanship
Award in soccer, and was named a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete for indoor
track, and Most Versatile Player and Most Improved for baseball; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Alex Schwalb plans to
major in physics at SUNY Albany, with the hopes of becoming a high
school physics teacher; and
WHEREAS, Alex Schwalb gives tirelessly of his time and energies
volunteering as an AYSO Soccer Referee; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Alex Schwalb
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Alex Schwalb may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and
WHEREAS, Alex Schwalb represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alex Schwalb upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alex Schwalb.
