HONORING Elizabeth McLean upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Elizabeth
McLean upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Elizabeth McLean has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent,
and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and

WHEREAS, A student at John S. Burke Catholic High School, Elizabeth
McLean has a 4.0 GPA; she is a member of the National English Honor
Society and the National Honor Society where she also serves as
Treasurer; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth McLean also participates in the school band, FMJ,
and ACE and has been a student mentor; she has also been a vital member
of the cross country team, and both the indoor and outdoor track and
field teams; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Elizabeth McLean plans
to major in engineering at either RPI or Stevens Institute of
Technology; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth McLean gives tirelessly of her time and energies
volunteering for St. Margaret's Soup Kitchen, Vacation Bible School and
various Thrall Library summer programs; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Elizabeth
McLean has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth McLean may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth McLean represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to

honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Elizabeth McLean upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Elizabeth McLean.
