HONORING Heidi Willins upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Heidi
Willins upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Heidi Willins has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent,
and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and
WHEREAS, A student at George F. Baker High School, Heidi Willins has
a 95.64 GPA and has been named Salutatorian of her class; she is a
member of the National Honor Society, and several musical groups
including Jazz All-County Choir, All-County Choir, Honors Choir, Band,
Jazz Club, and has been involved with the school's musicals; and
WHEREAS, Heidi Willins was the co-Captain of the Varsity Girls
Volley Team and played a valuable role in the team capturing both the
sectional and regional championships; for her steadfast and unremitting
commitment to her teammates, she was the recipient of the Leadership
Award; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Heidi Willins plans to
major in business at Fairfield University; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Heidi Willins gives tirelessly
of her time and energies volunteering for the Garden of Hope at Good
Samaritan Hospital; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Heidi Willins
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Heidi Willins may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Heidi Willins represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Heidi Willins upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Heidi Willins.
