COMMEMORATING the 60th Anniversary of Farney's
Home and Building Center on June 16, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate
the long histories of certain family-owned business endeavors, which are
the cornerstone of economic success in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Farney's Home and Building Center to
be celebrated at a party on Saturday, June 16, 2018, in Carthage, New
York; and
WHEREAS, In 1958, Vincent and Gladyce Farney established Farney's
Home and Building Center in Carthage, New York; and
WHEREAS, Farney's Home and Building Center was built literally from
the ground up; originally a swampy area, Gladyce and Vincent Farney
brought in truckload after truckload of sand to build it up to the point
where a facility could be constructed; and
WHEREAS, Beginning as a lumber yard, then adding building supplies,
a hardware store and a kitchen, bathroom and countertop design showroom,
Farney's Home and Building Center continues to grow, change and expand;
and
WHEREAS, Today, Farney's Home and Building Center is run by second
generation owner, Reg Farney; not ones to sit idle, Gladyce and Vincent
Farney are still very much involved in the business they established;
and
WHEREAS, Farney's Home and Building Center currently employs 18
full-time individuals; through Gladyce and Vincent Farney's vision,
determination and stellar work ethic, Reg and his employees continue the
Farney tradition of providing exemplary customer service and a wide
variety of quality products to its customers; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Reg Farney, Farney's Home
and Building Center looks forward to many more years of continued
excellence and growth serving the residents of the Village of Carthage,
and the surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Farney's Home and Building Center;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reg Farney, Owner, Farney's Home and Building Center.
