CONGRATULATING Chief Frederick M. Fusco upon the
occasion of his retirement after 44 years of
distinguished service to the Rensselaer Police
Department on August 10, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Chief
Frederick M. Fusco upon the occasion of his retirement after 44 years of
distinguished service to the Rensselaer Police Department, to be
celebrated with a party held in his honor on Friday, June 15, 2018, at
the Franklin Terrace Ballroom in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Frederick M. Fusco began his esteemed law enforcement
career, spanning over four decades, with the Rensselaer Police
Department on May 26, 1974; he served as a Vacation Patrolman until he
was promoted to the title of Sergeant on April 9, 1979; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Frederick M. Fusco became the Deputy Chief on July
10, 1988, and then assumed the esteemed title of Chief of Police on
April 2, 1995, the position from which he will officially retire on
August 10, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Chief Frederick M. Fusco was also a member of Board of
Directors of the Zone 5 Training Center which trains both new and
veteran officers from numerous upstate counties; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Chief Frederick M. Fusco,
the Rensselaer Police Department was certified by the New York State
Association of Chiefs of Police in a special sex offender management
program, Certified Best Practices, which was launched in 2009 to
recognize police agencies using proactive strategies to monitor sex
offenders, provide community notification and conduct enforcement; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Chief Frederick M. Fusco upon the occasion of his
retirement after 44 years of distinguished service to the Rensselaer
Police Department, and to wish him continued success in all his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chief Frederick M. Fusco.
