CONGRATULATING Catherine Lackner upon the occasion
of her retirement after 17 years of distinguished
service to the Mineola Library
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Catherine Lackner upon the occasion of her retirement after
17 years of distinguished service to the Mineola Library to be
celebrated with a dinner held in her honor on Tuesday, June 26, 2018;
she will officially retire on Friday, July 6, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Catherine Lackner has served the Mineola Library as the
Reference and Adult Programs Librarian for the past 17 years; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Catherine Lackner brought the arts,
culture, entertainment, and education to her community; and
WHEREAS, Catherine Lackner was also instrumental in organizing many
programs and events held at the library to benefit the Mineola
community, some of which include: the Irish music and dance annual
event; outdoor concerts; blood drives; tax assistance; defensive driving
classes; computer classes; literacy classes; live theatrical
performances; book club for senior group at village hall; concerts of
all types including: pop, rock, classical, jazz, opera, country, and
world; art grants from Freeport and Huntington Arts Councils; exercise
and meditation classes; cooking classes; and health screenings; and
WHEREAS, Catherine Lackner, who always displayed a high level of
professionalism and friendly customer service, was governed by a keen
sense of duty and continuously showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Catherine Lackner upon the occasion of her retirement after
17 years of distinguished service to the Mineola Library, and to wish
her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Catherine Lackner.
