HONORING Emily Kuhn upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2018 Kenny Award for
Outstanding Actress in a Leading Role
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
the arts, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Emily Kuhn upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2018
Kenny Award for Outstanding Actress in a Leading Role; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion was celebrated at the 25th
Anniversary Kenny Awards Ceremony and Kenny Day on Saturday, May 12,
2018, at Shea's Performing Arts Center, Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Kenny Award was created in 1993, in honor of the late
Dr. Ken Lipke, the founder of Gibraltar Steel; this prestigious award
is a testament to his passion and dedication to the arts and his belief
in the arts as an integral component of society; and
WHEREAS, Music study is most worthy of being encouraged and
promoted, as it provides an opportunity for students to exhibit their
skills to an audience, thereby giving them self-esteem to last a
lifetime; and
WHEREAS, Emily Kuhn's depiction of Lucy in Tonawanda High School's
presentation of Jekyll & Hyde garnered this gifted student a Kenny Award
for Outstanding Actress in a Leading Role; and
WHEREAS, Emily Kuhn has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, establishing a high standard of excellence and
purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, In achieving this high honor, Emily Kuhn may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence
she brings to her family, friends, community and school; and
WHEREAS, Emily Kuhn exemplifies the best potential which is inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought enduring honor
to her family and her community through her many achievements; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Emily Kuhn upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2018 Kenny Award for Outstanding Actress in a Leading Role; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Emily Kuhn.
