HONORING Arlene Keating upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2018 Civic Award by
the Bay Ridge Community Council on June 14, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Arlene Keating upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2018 Civic Award by the Bay Ridge Community Council, to be celebrated at
its 67th Annual Dinner Dance on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Bay Ridge
Manor, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Arlene Keating
attended Our Lady of Angels School, Fort Hamilton High School, and
Staten Island Community College; and
WHEREAS, For more than 25 years, Arlene Keating had a lucrative
career in the Reinsurance business, retiring in 2002 from Generali US
Branch as a Senior Vice President; and
WHEREAS, Arlene Keating went on to join the Bay Ridge Law Firm of
Connors and Sullivan where she spent 14 years as a Senior Legal
Assistant in the Litigation and Real Estate Departments; she retired
from the firm in January of 2017; and
WHEREAS, A former President and Executive Secretary of the Bay Ridge
Community Council, Arlene Keating also served on the Board for many
years; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Arlene Keating is the Secretary and a Trustee of the
Kassenbrock Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund; additionally, she serves
as President of the Ragamuffin Parade Committee after having served as
its Secretary for 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Arlene Keating held the position of Treasurer of the 68th
Precinct Community Council, and is Past President of Narrows Community
Theater; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she is currently on the Board of Brooklyn One
Productions, and serves as a Director on the Boards of The Guild for
Exceptional Children (GEC), and Holy Angels Catholic Academy; and
WHEREAS, Arlene Keating has been the proud recipient of numerous
awards and accolades, some of which include the Vince Mazza Award for
Achievement in Theater, the Civic Service Award from the Merchants of
Third Avenue, the Philanthropic Award from the GEC, and the Ronald
Reagan Americanism Award; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her loving companion of 19
years, George, and her daughter, Jennifer (Keith), as well as two
grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren, who have all shown her love and support
and rejoice in her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Arlene Keating has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Arlene Keating, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Arlene Keating upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2018 Civic Award by the Bay Ridge Community Council on June 14,
2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Arlene Keating.
