COMMENDING Christine Chaufty upon the occasion of
her retirement after 45 years of dedicated service
to the South Lewis Central School in Turin, New York

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those
outstanding educational staff members, whose dedication and achievements
have been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence
in the young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Christine Chaufty upon the occasion of her retirement after 45 years of
dedicated service to the South Lewis Central School to be celebrated at
a party held in her honor on Wednesday, June 20, 2018; and

WHEREAS, For 45 years, Christine Chaufty has diligently served
literally tens of thousands of students, parents, teachers, staff and
community members, but mere years of service do not begin to measure her
extraordinary contributions to the South Lewis Central School; and

WHEREAS, Born to James and Rita Allen, Christine Chaufty grew up on
the family's dairy farm; after it was sold, the Allens moved to Lyons
Falls, New York; and

WHEREAS, Christine Chaufty began working as a secretary for her alma
mater shortly after she graduated from high school at the young age of
17; today, after 45 years of service, she will leave the school for the
first time in her life on June 30, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her long and distinguished career, Christine
Chaufty has worked under the helm of nine or 10 principals, and was
known as the "Walking Encyclopedia of South Lewis School"; and

WHEREAS, In her much deserved retirement, Christine Chaufty will
take on a part-time position with Little Friends Veterinary Services in
Turin, and continue her volunteer roles with Lyons Falls ALIVE, and as
both cantor and member of the parish council at her church; and

WHEREAS, Christine Chaufty has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the South Lewis Central School, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
her impressive dedication to others; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Christine Chaufty upon the occasion of her retirement after 45
years of dedicated service to the South Lewis Central School in Turin,
New York, and to wish her continued success in all of her future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Christine Chaufty.
