COMMENDING Patricia A. King, EdD upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition by the
Sankofa Global Project on June 22, 2018

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
individuals in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been
instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Patricia A. King, EdD upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Sankofa Global Project to be celebrated at
the 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony of M.S. 267 in Brooklyn, New York, on
Friday, June 22, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The Sankofa Global Project diligently works to increase the
number of women and people of color who pursue a career in Science,
Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) fields; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Patricia A. King holds a Master of Science degree in
School Administration and Supervision and Master of Arts degree in Math
Education; in December of 2017, she received her doctorate in
Educational Leadership; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. Patricia A. King is the Principal of M.S.
267; in this capacity, she strives to ensure her students receive a high
quality education in math, science and technology; she and her team of
teachers, diligently work to support and help students earn high scores
on the state tests and the math and science regents; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the last 10 years, Dr. Patricia A. King has
established systemic structures which provide opportunities for teachers
to share best practices and monitor students' academic and social
progress; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Patricia A. King is passionate about creating a
culturally responsive environment where scholars become independent
thinkers and learners; the culture of "continuous improvement" is
integrated into all activities as everyone strives for excellence to
ensure all scholars are prepared for success in high school, college and
beyond; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Patricia A. King coaches and shares
experiences with new principals; she also serves as a Host Principal
with the Learning Partner Program, which provides opportunities to
collaborate with three other schools to improve teaching and learning;
and


WHEREAS, Educators like Dr. Patricia A. King provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Patricia A. King clearly has an enduring impact on the
youth of M.S. 267, as well as the community-at-large, and accordingly
merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedication to others;
and

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Patricia A. King, EdD upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Sankofa Global Project on June 22, 2018; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Patricia A. King, EdD.
