HONORING Judith A. Cavanaugh upon the occasion of
her designation as Zontian of the Year by the Zonta
Club of Albany
WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Judith A. Cavanaugh who uphold the
values of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize
the best of humanity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Judith A.
Cavanaugh upon the occasion of her designation as Zontian of the Year by
the Zonta Club of Albany; and
WHEREAS, Judith A. Cavanaugh is being honored with this auspicious
award in recognition of her extraordinary dedication to the community;
and
WHEREAS, Judith A. Cavanaugh spent her illustrious career with the
New York State Department of Taxation and Finance where she received the
Commissioner's Award and retired in 1996, after more than 35 years of
distinguished service to New York State Government; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast commitment to her community, Judith A.
Cavanaugh joined the Zonta Club of Albany in 2004; during this time she
has served in several capacities, including as Treasurer, Board
Director, Attendance Committee Chair, Nominating Committee Chair,
Co-Chair of the Jean M. Coon Award Committee, and as a member of the
2017 Zonta District 2 Conference Committee; and
WHEREAS, Judith A. Cavanaugh sincerely exemplifies Zonta's mission
of community service by tirelessly supporting the many organizations and
programs with which the Zonta Club of Albany is affiliated, some of
which include The Next Step, Schuyler Inn Homeless Shelter, Capital City
Rescue Mission's New Faith Family Center, Koinonia Primary Care Clinic,
and St. Paul's Center; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Judith A. Cavanaugh was instrumental in the
Club's participation in various local craft fairs, beginning with the
Academy of the Holy Names and Colonie Central High School, and later
expanding to several other venues; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the City of Albany, Judith A.
Cavanaugh is a true asset to her beloved community; she gives of her
time and energies to the Food Pantry and the Family Promise program at
the Parish of Mater Christi, and remains a staunch supporter of the
Academy of the Holy Names as an active alumna of the school; and
WHEREAS, Judith A. Cavanaugh truly leads by example, enriching the
lives of so many with her unwavering dedication to community service;
her commitment to helping others is an inspiration to all; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Judith A. Cavanaugh has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Judith A. Cavanaugh, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Judith A. Cavanaugh upon the occasion of her designation as
Zontian of the Year by the Zonta Club of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Judith A. Cavanaugh.
