COMMENDING Father Pierre Aubin upon the occasion
of celebrating the 60th Anniversary of his
Ordination to the Priesthood on June 22, 2018

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Father
Pierre Aubin upon the occasion of celebrating the 60th Anniversary of
his Ordination to the Priesthood on June 22, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Born in a small village on the St. Lawrence River in
Quebec, Canada, Father Pierre Aubin began his studies at Laval
University in Quebec, and went on to study Theology at Ottowa
University, where he simultaneously learned the English language; and

WHEREAS, After his ordination, Father Pierre Aubin obtained a
licentiate in theology, a bachelor's degree in education and, studied
mathematics, chemistry and physics at Le Moyne College in Syracuse and
later at Fordham University where he obtained a master of arts degree in
mathematics in 1965; and

WHEREAS, Father Pierre Aubin taught at MSC high school seminary,
later known as Sacred Heart Prep, in Watertown, New York, and at
Immaculate Heart Academy, now known as Immaculate Heart Central High
School, in Watertown; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished 60-year career in the
ministry, Father Pierre Aubin has served in numerous communities
throughout the State of New York including Our Lady of the Sacred Heart
Parish in Watertown, St. Mary's Church in Evans Mills, St. Theresa of
Avila Church in Theresa, St. Joseph's Church in Philadelphia and St.
Michael's Church in Antwerp; and

WHEREAS, In 1999, Father Pierre Aubin became Pastor of All Saints
Church in Chaumont, New York, and in 2002, was also given care of St.
Vincent of Paul in Cape Vincent and St. Vincent de Paul Church in
Rosiere; he was instrumental in leading the three parishes to merge and
form one parish now known as the Catholic Community of Cape Vincent,
Rosiere and Chaumont where he still serves today; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his leadership role at the church, in 1977,
Father Pierre Aubin began working with Mission Project Service which is
a link between development workers in less-industrialized countries and
international aid organizations in wealthier countries; he helped
establish a Mission Project Service office in New York City and gave

workshops on obtaining needed funding in Latin America, Africa and Asia;
and

WHEREAS, Father Pierre Aubin is the coauthor of the book Divided
Loyalties - Tensions for Religious Americans arising from U.S. Foreign
Policy and was involved in the publication of nine editions of Agencies
for Development Assistance and their translation into Spanish and
French; and

WHEREAS, Father Pierre Aubin has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and
professional integrity and dedication; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given
enlightenment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and
has administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and
corporal needs of all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Father Pierre Aubin upon the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of
his Ordination into the Priesthood on June 22, 2018, noting his
unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God,
man, and his community, and extending to him heartfelt best wishes for a
future of continued purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Father Pierre Aubin.
