HONORING the New York City District Council of
Carpenters and Joiners of America upon the occasion
of celebrating its 100th Anniversary

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
significant milestones in the distinguished histories of its esteemed
entities; and

WHEREAS, The New York City District Council of Carpenters and
Joiners of America will celebrate its 100th Anniversary on June 21,
2018; and

WHEREAS, The New York City District Council of Carpenters and
Joiners of America works to ensure that its members have rights in their
workplace, a fair wage, a healthy family, and hope for the future; it
also serves to eliminate exploitation and dangerous conditions in the
workplace; and

WHEREAS, The New York City District Council of Carpenters and
Joiners of America is comprised of nine Local Unions and over 20,000
union members including carpenters, millwrights, dockbuilders,
timbermen, cabinet makers, floor coverers, and industrial workers; and

WHEREAS, Member Local Unions include Local 20 New York City
Carpenters Union Staten Island, Local 45 New York City Carpenters Union
Queens, Local 157 New York City Carpenters Union Manhattan, Local 212
High Rise Concrete Carpentry, Local 740 Millwrights and Machinery
Erectors, and Local 926 New York City Carpenters Union Brooklyn; and

WHEREAS, Membership also includes Local 1556 Timberman, Carpenters,
Hod Hoist Carpenters, Core Drillers, Dockbuilders, Pier Carpenters,
Shorers, House Movers, Pike Drivers, Divers, Tenders, and Foundation and
Marine Constructors, Local 2287 Resilient Floor Coverers, and Local 2790
Industrial and Shop Workers; and

WHEREAS, The New York City District Council of Carpenters and
Joiners of America has a long and distinguished history of serving its
proud members; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the New York City District Council of Carpenters and Joiners of
America upon the occasion of celebrating its 100th Anniversary; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the New York City District Council of Carpenters and
Joiners of America, and its member Local Unions.
