COMMENDING HeartShare Human Services of New York
upon the occasion of hosting its Disability Parade
on July 15, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
support events of significance which contribute to the entertainment and
vitality of the communities they serve and which exemplify the history
and development of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend HeartShare Human Services of New York upon the occasion of
hosting its Disability Parade on Sunday, July 15, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The theme of this year's parade is "Creativity," and
participants are invited to decorate clothes, hats, wheelchairs, hair,
faces and floats; awards will be handed out for the most creative ideas;
and

WHEREAS, HeartShare Human Services of New York nurtures and empowers
children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
through education, life skills and vocational training, employment,
residential, case management, recreational, individual and family
supports, and health care services; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization is affiliated with the HeartShare
School, which offers quality education and therapies to children with
autism, and HeartShare Wellness, which provides therapies and
counseling, as well as case management to those with developmental
disabilities and people with chronic conditions; and

WHEREAS, In addition, HeartShare St. Vincent's Services (HSVS)
supports children, adults and families living in crisis due to
experiences with poverty; and

WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1914, HeartShare Human Services of
New York has expanded its reach to over 100 program sites in Brooklyn,
Queens and Staten Island, as well as to 60 of the 62 New York counties
through energy grants to low-income families; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those organizations that have brought entertainment and cultural
enrichment to the citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend HeartShare Human Services of New York upon the occasion of
hosting its Disability Parade on July 15, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to HeartShare Human Services of New York.
