COMMENDING Purelements upon the occasion of
hosting Dance: BKLYN! A World Celebration on June
15, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention
to those events which serve to enhance the cultural enrichment of the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Purelements upon the occasion of hosting Dance: BKLYN! A World
Celebration on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The arts are at the center of most communities, serving as
an expression of unification in numerous social and religious events
around the world; Dance: BKLYN! is committed to honoring the differences
and similarities of a global people through the art and science of
dance; and
WHEREAS, Participating dance companies include Allure Dance Company,
Something Positive, Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation, Ninja Ballet and
Purelements, as well as a spoken word performance by poet Jaime Lewis;
and
WHEREAS, The two-hour dance concert will feature Afro-Caribbean,
Contemporary, Salsa, West African and Classical Ballet x Martial Art
fusion form dance performances; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the importance of the
performing arts, which act to inspire, enlighten, and unify people from
all cultural backgrounds through the transcendent power of human
expression; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Purelements upon the occasion of hosting Dance: BKLYN! A World
Celebration on June 15, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Purelements.
