HONORING the Nunda Volunteer Ambulance Service
upon the occasion of celebrating its 50th
Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor ambulance departments and their members who have exhibited great
dedication, courage and selflessness in providing emergency medical
services in this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, The emergency medical service providers of New York State
are renowned throughout the Nation; their reputation is synonymous with
excellence in the arduous field of providing medical assistance to those
in need; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Nunda Volunteer Ambulance Service upon the occasion of celebrating
its 50th Anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer emergency medical personnel not only provide the
critical service of medical care, but also engage in other activities of
great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and

WHEREAS, On January 1, 1967, charter members Dorcus Ace, Fay Ace,
Jack Barnes, Pat Barnes, George Beardsley, Clarence Bogardus, Jean
Bogardus, Laurell Briggs, Lois Buchinger, Marlie Buchinger, Frank Estep,
Theresa Goldthwaite, Louie Haight, Janet Howe, Joyce Kanouse, Hi Kemp,
Anne Lawson, Art Lawson, Gus Marano, Wes Marsh, Ivan McCall, Bud
McMaster, Maurice Piper, Larry Ryan, Don Thompson, Robert VanName, Nancy
Willard, and Norm Zeh organized the corporation to serve the residents
of Nunda and the surrounding areas; and

WHEREAS, Currently, the Nunda Volunteer Ambulance Service has two
members who have been active for more than 25 years, and one who is
celebrating her 35th year in 2017; and

WHEREAS, During the first year of the Nunda Volunteer Ambulance
Service, the corporation responded to 110 calls; members answered 488
alarms in 2016; and

WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help
others, and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to carry out the vital mission of volunteer ambulance
corporations; and

WHEREAS, Observing that special recognition should be given to those
who work so assiduously for the betterment of their communities, and
that they should be acknowledged publicly for their heroic good works as
volunteer emergency medical service providers in this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Nunda Volunteer Ambulance Service upon the occasion of
celebrating its 50th Anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Nunda Volunteer Ambulance Service.
