CONGRATULATING Brenda Sanchez upon the occasion of
winning a gold medal at the Hudson Valley Winter Erg
Sprints

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the State of New York who have
inspired and brought pride to their community by achieving outstanding
success in athletic competition; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Brenda Sanchez upon the occasion of winning a gold medal at the Hudson
Valley Winter Erg Sprints; to the praise and applause of her excited
fans, she outrowed 12 other competitors to take gold in the seventh
grade girls rowing event; and

WHEREAS, A member of the Newburgh Rowing Club, Brenda Sanchez was
one of over 370 athletes from 19 rowing clubs from Orange, Ulster and
Dutchess counties who participated in the Hudson Valley Winter Erg
Sprints at the West Point Boathouse in Kingston, New York; and

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice; Brenda Sanchez's dedication to
competitive rowing is a year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly
focused and has developed a matchless work ethic; and

WHEREAS, Brenda Sanchez's exemplary athleticism is reflective of her
dedication, determination and personal commitment; her accomplishments
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, clubs and
communities across New York State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Brenda Sanchez upon the occasion of winning a gold medal at
the Hudson Valley Winter Erg Sprints; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brenda Sanchez.
