COMMEMORATING the 120th Anniversary of Scherer
Furniture
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
acknowledge certain exemplary companies that continue to provide
superior products and have become a beacon of prosperity within the
community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Scherer Furniture; and
WHEREAS, Family owned and operated for more than a century, Scherer
Furniture was established in 1897 by Fredrick Scherer in downtown
Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its humble beginnings, Scherer Furniture sold
such products as wooden toys, appliances, rugs and furniture which were
delivered locally via horse and buggy; the company relocated to its
current location on Genesee Street in 1939; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Scherer Furniture has been supplying
Western New Yorkers with a great place to shop for truly high quality
furniture at affordable discount prices; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Fredrick Scherer III and his
two sons, Kevin and James, Scherer Furniture has Western New York's
largest display of solid North American hardwood furniture; its huge
four story showroom is unlike any other; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 120 year history, Scherer Furniture
has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of Scherer Furniture is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its management and staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Scherer Furniture; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
businesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Scherer Furniture; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Scherer Furniture.
