COMMEMORATING the 25th Anniversary of the Mohawk
Hudson Land Conservancy
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations which are dedicated to increasing
public awareness of, and appreciation for, the natural resources of New
York, recognizing the role all citizens have in protecting the
environment and the quality of life in this Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy;
and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1992, the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy (MHLC)
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the distinct
natural, scenic, agricultural and cultural landscapes of the Mohawk and
Hudson River valleys for all to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy has
protected more than 5,000 acres of land in Albany, Schenectady and
Montgomery counties, including more than 2,000 acres open to the public
for hiking, cross-country skiing, and other educational and recreational
opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Located in Delmar, New York, the Mohawk Hudson Land
Conservancy provides important benefits to those who live in the region,
including scenic views, plant and animal diversity, clean air and water,
and the chance to explore and learn about the natural features which
make the region so special; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Mohawk Hudson Land
Conservancy increases the quantity as well as the strategic and
community value of preserved lands in Albany, Schenectady, and
Montgomery counties; in addition, this vital organization ensures the
effective stewardship of preserved lands; and
WHEREAS, The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy saves special places by
promoting the voluntary conservation of farmland and natural landscapes
in cooperation with landowners and local governments for the use and
enjoyment of current and future generations; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 25 year history, the Mohawk Hudson
Land Conservancy has demonstrated continuous service to the residents
and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that the
continuing welfare of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly
enriched and reliably served by the purposeful endeavors of
organizations which are committed to the preservation of our natural
environment and the enhancement of the appreciation of the distinctive
features of our surroundings, and to the economic well-being of the
areas in which they exist; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, Delmar, New York.
