COMMEMORATING the 40th Anniversary of CDS Life
Transitions on March 9, 2017

WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the
quality of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and
self-worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and

WHEREAS, From time to time, society calls upon these individuals and
organizations to be recognized for the significance of their
contributions and efforts to assist others in developing the skills
necessary to be successful, productive citizens; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
40th Anniversary of CDS Life Transitions, to be celebrated on Thursday,
March 9, 2017; and

WHEREAS, CDS Life Transitions is the parent company to CDS Monarch
and five other entities-iCircle, Unistel Industries, CDS Housing,
Warrior Salute Veteran Services, and the CDS Wolf Foundation; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization serves more than 3,200 individuals
with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people with chronic
illnesses, seniors and veterans seeking residential services,
transitional employment and healthcare needs; and

WHEREAS, CDS Life Transitions was established in 1977, when three
couples saw an unmet need as their children with developmental and
intellectual disabilities aged out of high school; without a place to
turn, the families sought comprehensive services but found limited
options were available; and

WHEREAS, Subsequently, these families rallied to fill the void and
established the beginnings of Continuing Development Services, now known
as CDS Monarch, and began meeting the needs of not only their own
children, but countless others; and

WHEREAS, An innovative leader in the community, CDS Life Transitions
provides compassionate and exceptional support, as well as more diverse
opportunities for the population it serves; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, CDS Life Transitions
supports its constituent organizations in providing exceptional,
holistic and innovative support for the people they serve; its
visionary, integrated stewardship provides life opportunities and
empowers individuals and their families to live more fulfilling and
independent lives; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 40 year history, CDS Life
Transitions has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of CDS Life Transitions is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its 700 employees, whose involvement is,

and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of CDS Life Transitions on March 9,
2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sankar Sewnauth, President & CEO, CDS Life Transitions.
