HONORING Cheektowaga Chief of Police David Zack
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Maryvale Athletic Wall of Fame Distinguished
Alumni Award

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Cheektowaga Chief of Police David Zack upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Maryvale Athletic Wall of Fame
Distinguished Alumni Award to be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2017,
at Salvatore's Italian Gardens in Depew, New York; and

WHEREAS, David Zack received his Bachelor of Science degree in
Criminal Justice from Hilbert College, where he currently serves as an
adjunct instructor in forensic science and crime scene photography; and

WHEREAS, In 1984, David Zack began working as a New York State
Department of Corrections Officer, spending time between the Sing-Sing
and Attica Correctional Facilities; three years later, he joined the
Cheektowaga Police Department; and

WHEREAS, As he continued his career at the Cheektowaga Police
Department, he rose to the position of Patrol Supervisor and head of the
Department's Sex Offense and Criminal Scene Investigation Units; in
2011, David Zack was named Cheektowaga Police Chief; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession, David Zack is President of the
New York State Chief's Association and serves on the Erie County Board
of Trustees for Central Police Services and the Board of Trustees for
the Erie County Crime Analysis Center; additionally, he is the Chairman
of the Joint Advisory Committee for the Central Police Services Training
Academy; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which David Zack has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cheektowaga Chief of Police David Zack upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Maryvale Athletic Wall of Fame
Distinguished Alumni Award; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cheektowaga Chief of Police David Zack.
