COMMENDING the American Association of Blacks in
Energy, New York Metropolitan Area Chapter upon the
occasion of hosting its 2017 Executive Reception on
February 23, 2017, and paying special tribute to
this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the
American Association of Blacks in Energy, New York Metropolitan Area
Chapter upon the occasion of hosting its 2017 Executive Reception on
Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Con Edison's Headquarters, in New York,
New York; and

WHEREAS, This year's honorees include Tanzee Silver, Senior
Engineer, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Samantha Tulloch,
STEM Teacher, P.S. 282 in Brooklyn, New York; Sederick Dawkins,
AABE-NYMAC/NYU Tandon School of Engineering; and Justin Sutton,
AABE-NYMAC/NYU Tandon School of Engineering; and

WHEREAS, The American Association of Black in Energy (AABE) is a
non-profit, national organization headquartered in Washington, D.C.,
with chapters throughout the country; it is an association of energy
professionals dedicated to ensuring the input of African Americans and
other minorities into the discussion and development of energy policies,
regulations, R&D technologies, entrepreneurial opportunities and
environmental issues; and

WHEREAS, AABE's membership comes from the petroleum and utility
industries, energy-related government agencies, colleges, universities
and entrepreneurial energy businesses; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the American Association of Blacks in Energy, New York
Metropolitan Area Chapter upon the occasion of hosting its 2017
Executive Reception on February 23, 2017, and paying special tribute to
this year's honorees; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William A. Suggs, AABE-NYMAC President.
