COMMENDING Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels upon the
occasion of participating in the 2017 Meals on
Wheels Association of America's March for Meals
campaign

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of those concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels upon the occasion of participating in
the 2017 Meals on Wheels Association of America's March for Meals
campaign; and

WHEREAS, The Annual March for Meals campaign is a month-long event,
sponsored by the Meals on Wheels Association of America, designed to
generate public awareness about hunger; and

WHEREAS, This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Ken-Ton Meals
on Wheels; this vital organization has served the interests of the
people of the Empire State by providing sustenance and support to
seniors in need in the Town of Tonawanda and the Village of Kenmore; and

WHEREAS, The Meals on Wheels Association of America is the oldest
and largest national organization composed of and representing local,
community-based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 States; and

WHEREAS, In addition to the Annual March for Meals campaign, Ken-Ton
Meals on Wheels will be hosting a myriad of special events to raise
awareness of their home delivered meal program including a volunteer
recognition week, fundraisers at local restaurants, and a Community
Champions Week to be held March 13-17, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Today, under the luminous leadership of Executive Director,
Dan Wiles, Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels has been able to assist the seniors
of Kenmore and Tonawanda; it is comprised of many dedicated volunteers
who prepare and deliver nourishing meals to the homebound and frail each
weekday; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels
in celebration of its growth and the tremendous service it provides; and

WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission, Ken-Ton Meals
on Wheels has demonstrated the inestimable value of improving the
quality of life for New York State's aging residents; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels upon the occasion of participating in

the 2017 Meals on Wheels Association of America's March for Meals
campaign; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted
to Dan Wiles, Executive Director, Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels.
