COMMENDING Rubin Livestock Services upon the
occasion of celebrating 100 years as a family
business in Monticello, New York

WHEREAS, The agricultural industry is part of the foundation upon
which our distinct American heritage is built; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes great pride in acknowledging
outstanding individuals and businesses associated with the agricultural
industry which clearly contribute to the spirit of excellence which so
distinguishes the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1917, the Rubin family has been buying and
selling quality livestock on Rubin Road in Monticello, New York, for 100
years; today, Jay and Shirley Rubin, along with their children, Kaitie
and Jacob, are the only descendants still working on the family farm;
and

WHEREAS, Over the past century, there has been considerable
expansion and growth; recently, the Rubins added a Horse Division
offering its customers trail and backyard horses, western pleasure
horses, leadline ponies, school horses, hunters, and a large selection
of well-started green hunter horse and pony prospects; in addition,
Rubin Livestock Services deals in new and used tack; and

WHEREAS, For 100 years, Rubin Livestock Services has opened its
doors to the community with friendly faces and even friendlier cows; for
the last 14 years, Devil Dog, a longhorn cow, greeted customers at the
gate and enjoyed eating all kinds of treats right out of people's hands;
and

WHEREAS, The Rubin family's monumental pride, endurance, and
determination, endless hard work, and many lessons learned, as well as a
little bit of luck has carried the multi-generational business through
many periods of growth and prosperity; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rubin Livestock Services upon the occasion of celebrating 100
years as a family business in Monticello, New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jay and Shirley Rubin, Owners, Rubin Livestock Services.
