HONORING Robert Wood upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Adult Youth
Volunteer Award by the Genesee County & Batavia
Youth Boards

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wood has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert Wood upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Adult Youth Volunteer Award by the Genesee County & Batavia Youth
Boards, to be celebrated at its Youth Recognition Banquet on Thursday,
March 30, 2017, at Terry Hills Restaurant & Banquet Facility, Batavia,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and
serving can be sustained and strengthened; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wood has been an active member of the Kiwanis of
Byron for 27 years, during which time he has held numerous leadership
positions including President; and

WHEREAS, As a member of Kiwanis, Robert Wood was instrumental in
bringing its Builders Club to Byron-Bergen High School; in his capacity
as the club's co-advisor, he assists the students in learning practical
pointers on parliamentary procedures, and volunteers at every event; and

WHEREAS, Known for his warm infectious smile, Robert Wood is a
staunch supporter of countless organizations within the community some
of which include HOBY Leadership, the Advocacy Center, the Byron Fire
Department and the Governors Project; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to local youth,
Robert Wood sponsors students for the Key Leader Conference, and gives
annual scholarships for graduating seniors of Byron-Bergen High School;
in addition, he has raised funds for the purchase of the school's score
board and tennis courts; and

WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Robert Wood has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Robert Wood, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Wood upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Adult Youth Volunteer Award by the Genesee County & Batavia Youth
Boards; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Robert Wood.
